Fresh is the magazine from Norwich Diocese designed to support work with children and young people.

Fresh is issued three times a year in March, July and November and you can subscribe for free by simply contacting Tricia Elson.

BELIEF (Bedford Ecumenical Lay Institute for Education and Faith)

BELIEF was set up in 2006 by a group of Christians in and around Bedford who
wanted to create opportunities for high quality, accessible Christian education in this area. Since then we have had over 300 students on a variety of courses and also been involved in consultancy work with local churches. Past courses include:

Getting to Grips with Luke
The Old Testament
Pastoral Care
PowerPoint for Preachers
Mission in a Postmodern World
Living in a Multi-Faith world

No formal educational qualifications are needed to come on our courses. The only
qualifications needed are a willingness and a desire to learn.

Grants and Funding for Youth Ministry

Grants from the Youth and Children’s Task Forces support work with under 18s within the Anglican churches of the Diocese of Norwich. Applications may also be from Anglican groups working ecumenically.

Glimpses – an Frontier Youth Trust resource

A dynamic and exciting resource for youth workers, packed full of creative ideas and reflections that will help them in their work. The resource comprises of five sections: Reflections provides a series of visual images to engage with and reflect upon. Atmospheres explores the power and importance of environments and Essences tries to get to the heart of what is meant by spirituality and spiritual development. Stations provides a range of some 30 practical tools to aid exploration and engagement, whilst Breaths is packed full of miscellaneous ideas and resources. All this and a DVD full of images, music and video clips to use with the resource.

Exodus 20

EXODUS 20, is a contemporary drama based on the Ten Commandments, as seen through the eyes of children. It can be used as a resource for youth work, in churches but also in secondary schools.
A whole pack, including a DVD film, educational resources and associated products, it addresses current issues in a thought-provoking and relevant way.

Passion for God

Passion for God is a series of short courses for any person, parish or deanery in the diocese wanting to live more for God but needing an injection of excitement, know-how, theology or spirituality. The courses are designed to enthuse, educate and equip people to live God’s passion for the world.

Mapping Mark

A new series of five Bible study ‘maps’ written by Susanna Gunner, Lay Development Co-ordinator for the Norwich Diocese. Each ‘map’ takes you on a reflective journey through a key episode in Mark’s Gospel with the help of art, poetry and music and invites an interactive response.

Growing Together in Christ

Growing Together in Christ
This is a course of Christian nurture and discipleship. Several centres throughout the diocese have hosted the course since its launch in 2001. Over 700 people have participated in the course and, as a result, it was completely revised in 2003. Open to anyone it is an alternative, or follow-up, to Alpha or Emmaus. There are 24 or 18 sessions (depending on which syllabus is followed) together with 3 assignments over the year and 3 day (or half-day) workshops. People can dip into it or do the whole course. There is also a syllabus which can be used in an ecuemnical setting. All who successfully complete the course receive a certificate signed by the Bishop of St Albans. It is also a foundation for those chosen to be members of a Local Ministry Team.
